Mum has been telling about how awesome the Bak Kut Teh (BKT) she had in Johor Bahru for the longest time. It took me a while to consider bringing her to relive the moment again because I'm not a fan of BKT. This may sound surprising to some but I am able to count with one hand on the number of times I've eaten BKT.
Getting there is similar to getting to City Square Mall in JB but be sure to stop before Starbucks. You will find an escalator on your left and just head two escalators down and you will find yourself at the bus terminal.
The bus that we took to KSL City Mall is "S1". I've also read on other sites stating that the bus "IM17" brings you there too. I'm not exactly sure about this but be sure to check with the driver. Not to worry, there will be drivers shouting where the buses are headed to so be alert when someone shouts "KSL!!"
Bus Fare was RM1.50 per pax.
Note: They accept notes too!
The seats were comfortable for a RM1.50 ride.
There are several stops before reaching KSL City Mall. Majority of the passengers get down at KSL so don't worry about missing your stop!
We had to cross to the other side of the mall to get to "Soon Soon Heng Bak Kut Teh" stall or supposedly "The Bak Kut Teh Stall Opposite KSL Mall".
You know you are on the right side when you see KFC, just look across the road and you'll spot it.
Toppings such as enoki mushroom are available for add on! I wasn't the person who ordered but my mum said that the original order comes with soup and bak kut. Customers usually add toppings and these can be seen at the entrance of the stall.
This is Sesame Oil Chicken. Mum was craving for this too!
The bill came up to approximately RM76.30 for 3 pax. Very affordable and its worth every single cent.
I'm now a BKT convert! Woohooo!! I would love to go and have it again. Oh, if you are wondering why was there an additional person while it was just my mum and I... We met a kind auntie in the midst of finding our way to the bus terminal. She was very kind and we invited her to join us to have BKT for lunch :)
After the awesome lunch, we went over to KSL City Mall to get our nails done! I decided to be brave and chose nude shades for my nails as I've always felt that nude colours don't go well with my skin tone. Turns out, I like it very much!
Go a few levels up and you will find an abundance of nail salons!
Remember to check/ask for the pricing before deciding on the salon, they shouldn't differ too much as I did check out a couple of them. I did mani + pedi and it was RM55!
Okay, that is all!
Hopefully this will be helpful to anyone who is intending to make their way to the BKT stall!
