I shall blog about the Batam trip I went on the 24 and 25 of Nov. Yes, I know it's like few weeks ago but I'll still blog about it.
Right..
My relatives and I had breakfast at a hawker centre opposite Vivo City. My bro and I ordered wanton mee, since it was still early, I didn't had any appetite. I just cleared the char siew, wanton, veggies and a tiny bit of mee on the plate. Thereafter, we went to harbourfront to wait for the arrival of the boat. As usual people was squeezing here and there, announcements of children getting lost and people late were usual. Finally, the boat arrived and we set off to Batam!!
It was a 45mins ride to Batam. People chatting, sleeping were a common sight on the boat. My bro and I chatted a while and I found my bro dozing off already!! So I decided to listen to my mp3 player and soon I found myself dozing off too!! We finally reached a place and as usual kiasu Singaporeans were found carrying their belongings and climbing up the stairs pushing here and there like the boat was going to leave any minute. Some of my relatives and I thought we haven't reach batam yet so we decided to relax. Suddenly, I could hear people shouting somethnig like " Last call for people going to Batam!" The moment the announcement was made, we all immediately stand out and alighted from the boat! My uncle was who queuing up to have their passports checked and stanmped was wondering where the hell was the rest of the group?! A smile was seen on his face when he saw us running towards him!
We got all our passports checked and stamped then we proceed to the money changer as the rate there was better than in S'pore. I changed S$100 and got 646,000 rupiah!!
Hello?!?!
It's not like everyday you see this figure in your everyday life in S'pore!!!
Bro " So are you a millionaire yet?"
Me " Errrr.. not really but I'm almost 3/4 there."
My relatives were quite amazed I changed S$100! I wonder why..
Soon, we all got onto a van and headed straight to the resort. While travelling, I only saw slums and squatters everywhere. People living there are used to that lifestyle. People were bathing out in the open and children running everywhere. They looked happy but I still pity them because their government are not doing anything for their own people!!! Shopping malls and buses weren't a usual sight in the city and on the road respectively. Perhaps, to them staying in normal HDB flalts is a luxury and a once in a lifetime experience! I realise how fortunate I was and lucky to have such a good government in S'pore.( thought we pay taxes etc.) Rubbish were everywhere and people are so daring to sell newspaper on the road itself! It's on the road and not along the roadside!
Up the stairs we go!
Everyone was so eager to check out their houses!
We finally reached the KTM Resort or whatever it's called.( I kinda forgot) We checked in to the resort and saw our house! The moment I stepped in, I saw a mini kitchen on the left side and on the right side it was empty -.-
There wasn't wooden sofa and anything! Then I check out the rooms and I quickly chose my bed! It was at the corner and my bro had no choice but to take the one beside me where there wasn't any wall to prevent you from falling off the bed! I went to the toilet and found that the toilet bowl and no toilet seat and the sink had to stopper or whatever you call that at the bottom so I could like see through and it as utterly disgusting! The bathing cubicle, needless to say, it wasn't as clean as I expected! But no choice! You pay for the price and this is what you get!
There's the swimming pool!
This is the view from my house!
Then, it was time to fill our stomachs and off we went to a shopping mall which I couldn't really remember what the name was. One whole big family of us sat at the table and ordered many many dishes that shock those waiter working there! Within 20mins everything on the table was gone! The plates were empty and all the food were in our stomachs! Feeling happy, we then decided to go our separate ways for shopping!! I've been waiting for this moment all this while!! We shopped and shopped. I bought 1 silver legging, a white top to match with it, a pair of earrings and a "Gucci" watch. Of course, it was an imitation one. My bro bought 2 watches and 1 of them of course *ahem* I chose it.
It was dinner time! Everyone gathered at the restaurant we ate earlier on and as usual people were late! Eg: My aunt and her daughter!
BUT! Surprisingly, they were not the latest! It was my mom and grandma!
We ate at the same restaurant again and earlier on my bro and I went to A&W to have root beer float and fries etc. So we didn't really eat much at dinner time. It was the very FIRST time my bro and I shared a bowl of rice!
While waiting for the massage....
We went back to the resort and waited for the massage! My mom and I shared 1 room but my bro had his room all by himself and the jacuzzi was BIG!!! Imagine 1 person in a gigantic jacuzzi! Feeling happy, I rushed to see where my room was and hoping to have an identical jacuzzi tub like my bro!
Much to my displeasure, the jacuzzi was half the size of my bro's and 2 person had to squeeze in it!! Man... I tell you I was sad. =\
After soaking in the jacuzzi, we had the whole body massage! It was PAINFUL!! So painful that my body turned red okay! At the leg part, it was shiok alright! After the spending the time at the shopping mall shopping, my legs really deserved the luxury! The person pulled all my fingers until they produced that cracking sound! It was hilarious! Of course the person who massaged me was a female!
Feeling relieved after the massage!
After all that massage, it definitely worked up an appetite! My bro and I had supper! We went to the counter and order fried rice, fried kway teow and fried mee and shared with my mom and dad. While waiting, we played pool. Though I've no idea how to play but it was fun! The food was ready and we went back to our so called house and had supper in my parents' room and watched tv at the same time! To my surprise, Indonesia had our local channels! All channels! After eating, my bro and I went back to our room and watched somemore tv programmes! I watched till I dozed off and my bro continued watching. The show ended around like either 12midnight or 1am.
2nd day!!
My bro woke up and bath while I decided to go my parent's bathroom as it was much cleaner! Thereafter, we got changed and had our buffet breakfast! It wasn't nice at all! It was lousy! But, what do you expect? Sigh..
1 whole big family having breakfast together!
Oh ya, there's this view behind us!
Are they going ot crash?!
NAH!!
Fishes fresh from the sea! Come and get one!
After having our breakfast, my relatives decided to chat among themselves and my bro and I went back to the house and watched Spongebob Squarepants! My bro used to tell me he watches it at camp every Sunday! Not long, my cousin, Michelle jie came. Well, I'm not used to call her that but I call Michelle instead. That episode was funny lah!
The song was something like " It's the best day ever...!" ....
Shopping spree here we come! This pic is cute okay!
After watching, we check out of the hotel and went to visit shops selling those ikan bilis etc. We visted a temple which I visited before last yr but I just looked around because I was a christian. Then, we went to a shop which sells polo shirt! I don't know why, but whoever visits Indonesia, they would come back with a polo shirt! Yeah, precisely it was cheap! So I decided to try on and my mom said I looked like a tomboy so I didn't buy.
Thereafter, we went shopping at mega mall! The mall was famous for doughnuts! Last year around June, I went there before. My bro said you should have brought the idea back to S'pore and we would be rich! Sigh.. if only I knew that. I would be counting money now instead of staying at home and rot. There wasn't much to shop so we just walked around aimlessly and waited for the time to pass. At around 6pm, everyone gathered round and the tour guide brought us to the boat station and waited for our boat to arrive and we bid goodbye to the tourguide.
