Greetings from Seoul!

Hello, it's been more than a week since I left Singapore. Let me keep you guys updated on what we've been up to so far! (p/s: for those who don't know, we = my bro and me) Yup, both of us left our corporate jobs, left everything in Singapore and decided to come here. Why did we do that? Well..... I don't really know how to answer this question, I don't have a definite answer either. My dream? Well, I am still quite uncertain about this. But one thing's for sure, you will never know till you try.

All I can say is that we won't be living the normal Singaporean life.

The grass will only be greener on the other side ONLY if you water it.

Right, let's get on with the entry!

Joy and Deavi came to send me off. My other bffs, PLEASE DON'T BE ANGRY.

I refused to let anyone send me off because I'm not a fan of parting scenes. Plus, it's a weekday and my flight was at noon. Those 2 were persistent, Deavi and I didn't have the chance to meet up as promised so I decided to let these 2 persistent bffs of mine come along.

It was Scoot's inaugural flight to Seoul so they conducted a lucky draw and some entertainment during the flight.

This is Scoot's business class and each of us had a welcome drink on board.

Leather seats and more leg space, definitely worth your money since they will be making a transit in Taiwan.

Cool nail art design 3 in 1 pen set! I resisted the offer :)

1st meal!

Since it was Dragon Boat Festival, we had ba zhang that is unwrapped and served as a main meal.

2nd meal on board after the transit in Taiwan! I was delighted that meal was served immediately after we took off. Everyone was hungry!! This was mushroom and cheese bread! I love how it comes with Pringles! :D

I am a fan of sour cream & onion! I had 2 cans in a day! :D
(You can request for a change if you're not a fan of the Original flavour!)

Bro chose Singapore Sling which was nice! I should request for this when I'm coming back to Singapore for a short break (which I am still uncertain at this point of time).

It was past midnight when we landed. We waited quite a while for our luggage at the conveyor belt and tried to buy a SIM card but to no avail. So we grabbed a jumbo cab and headed straight to our hotel. You have no idea how much luggage we have, total weight was 74kg and it couldn't fit the normal taxi!! My bro contributed majority of it! You know why? I tell you later as I go on. You will understand why :)

Taxi fare from Incheon Airport to "Sinchon at Noon Hotel" was 69,900 won + 10,000 won for toll charges = 79,900 won which is slightly more than SGD$80.

Bathroom has a jacuzzi! :O

They even provide shampoo, shower gel and conditioner in actual sized bottles! The products were good lah! My hair was silky smooth throughout my stay.

Hair products for you to style your hair! Awesome or what.

My luggage! Damn nice right. I love the blue.

The amount of luggage I have was more than half of my body weight. Yup, tell me about it.

Had instant noodles the next day!

A paranoma view of the hotel room.

So we got in contact with a real estate agent and he brought us to look for apartments. 4 to be exact. We decided on the loft which you guys have seen it on my fb.

For dinner, my bro and I decided on this shop near our hotel.

We couldn't read the words, the shop owner said "niu rou or zhu rou". Beef it was!

Psy water anyone?

I really love how the water, tissue paper and banchan(side dishes) are ALL FREE FLOW.

I mean come on, Singapore should really really provide free flow of water in restaurants!! It doesn't make any sense for me to pay water you know! I'd rather stay thirsty than to PAY for water.

The best kimchi ever since our stay here.

YUM YUM YUM.

4 packets of ramyeon (instant noodles) for 1,000 won ($1)!!

They serve rice too! And it's free flow of rice!! Goodness.

Meal was 15,000 won.

We woke up the next day, packed everything and waited for Dean, our real estate agent, to pick us up to our apartment. We were early, so I took some photos.

And AT 11AM SHARP, HE ARRIVED.

I like people who are punctual.

You don't have to worry about your meals because there are shops selling food everywhere!

Hotel's carpark.

He drove us and helped out with our baggage.

He was talking to my bro about some stuff. We need to have our internet set up, cable tv and lots of other essential stuff.

This is my space! Though I can't stand straight up here but I finally have stairs in an apartment! You don't know how much I wanted to have stairs! :DD

The least efficient air-conditioner that they provided. See the label at the side? It's red and it's 5! 5 being the least efficient. Whoops, it sounds like I'm still at work.

Guitar shop just opposite the apartment which plays soothing classical music all day.

Then, Dean took us around to get a nano SIM card for our phones. Apparently, you need to be in Korea for 3 days and have your Alien Registration Card(ARC) to apply for a SIM card. Just some immigration stuff lah. After searching high and low, we finally found a shop. Since we just arrived, we had no ARC so we can't apply for data plan. So right now, I have a prepaid card which allows 60mins of talk time and nothing else. My sg number will still be in use though. Since there's wifi almost everywhere over here, you can survive without a data plan here. But just not in desperate scenarios :D

The school offers this plan and we're planning to check it! Will let you guys know more about it!

He brought us to his favourite shabu shabu shop.

A LOT OF TAU GEH HOR.

The beansprouts were 'noodles'.

After we cleared everything from the pot, he ordered rice. I thought it was just rice in soup but they let it boil till it thickens so it became congee/zhou.

It was a very healthy meal, too healthy for us in fact. But Dean said whenever he felt unhealthy, he would come here for this.

More photos of the apartment:

Microwave and a super inefficient refrigerator.

So THAT'S HOW they earn the utility bills from us.

My view at the top!

And look at our baggage!

The technician came to fix up our internet and cable tv! He speaks a little English which was good! You know what? He came by the next day to check if everything was alright. Talk about going the extra mile yo.

The view from our level.

Everything was brand new in the loft. The whole building was built recently.

I like, even the elevator smells new.

The toilet. This is an essential part of the house. I cannot live in a house with an eeeky toilet.

Our toiletries displayed nicely and orderly.

Then we went to buy some essential stuff for the house. It's so good when you have everything just downstairs. 2 minutes walk from our apartment!

Everything you need, you can find it here. Like those stores you will find in a hdb neighbourhood.

Free mini prebiotic drink from the shop owner! ^^

My fan!

Free scrubbing thing that the owner gave us when we bought stuff from them again!

Managed to get some groceries at Grand Mart which is VERY VERY NEAR TO OUR APARTMENT. We live in Sinchon, very close to the main street of Sinchon which has EVERYTHING.

Very good because we can save on transportation fees!

The groceries over here are not cheap. It is slightly more expensive than Sg. A watermelon over here can cost you $30! Hyundai Department Store is like Cold Storage. Grand Mart is probably like NTUC but slightly more expensive. We found a mini supermarket around our area, it's called Lotte Mart 990 or something where the produce are much cheaper! Banana milk for 990 won, other places might cost you 1,200 won.

And they sell a carton of banana milk! I will get them someday!

And oh, we have a water dispenser just right outside our unit? Damn awesome I tell you, it's like our private water dispenser as it's located the nearest to us. :D

Once again, we save money! There's no need to boil water!

We have cafes and eateries just right downstairs. Very convenient indeed.

And Joy, I didn't know you had a cafe here?!

My 'bed' for the past 8 nights. Yep, we have been sleeping on the floor for 8 nights. Very bad for the spine and to think I made several trips to my chiropractor to adjust my spine just before I left. I'm pretty certain my spine is in a bad shape again T.T

Breakfast the other day.

We brought instant pastes over here! Curry chicken, bak kut teh etc.

And we brought Oyster sauce too!

Bro's luggage which I used as a table for a few days.

YES.

This is my bro's desktop.

He didn't ship it here, he dismantled some of the parts and packed into his luggage.

His 24 inch monitor, CPU, motherboard, graphic card etc.

What's more, he brought along his camera, tripod, camera lens etc.

Jaw dropping moment eh.

So this is why it was 74kg.

The other smaller monitor was the TV provided.

We went back to the shop for pork this time! We were the only ones eating because there's no country besides Singapore where people eat for 24 hours.

Breakfast the other day again.
We found Nutella! ^^

And we were shopping at Ewha Fashion Street to get schools bags the other day. (Pretty much like Bugis Street)

You can take the subway, alight at Ewha Women's University Station and use Exit 8. Just walk straight up and you will see shops and more shops!

You will see a lot of shoe shops displayed in this manner. So don't get confused and lost.

While walking back, we saw this!

Atas cafe yo.

We intend to dine there when we miss Kaya toast.

Our school bags!

If you're living in Seoul, Daiso IS YOUR LIFE SAVIOUR.

Lots of stuff at 1,000 won! There's no everything for $2, it varies from 1,000 to 5,000 won or slightly more. You can get almost everything from Daiso!

It's very dangerous to shop at Daiso, I will definitely come out with something in my hand. And oh, over here in Seoul, they don't provide plastic bags. We paid 350 won for plastic bags at Grand Mart for grocery shopping and if you are buying bulky items from Daiso, then a plastic bag will be provided. Otherwise you can carry the stuff with your hands or bring your own bag.

We have ice in the shape of a star! How awesome!

1,000 won!

My 5,000 won home shorts I got from Ewha!

Banana milk, hehehehe.

Bro cooked this for lunch.

Pizza take-out! Woohoo!

Roast meat pizza for 6,000 won.
Lovely.

Orange juice to go with it!
And yes, I bought the metal cup! The ones they used in their eateries and restaurants! 1,000 won from Daiso!

Korean style curry chicken. The gravy was too thick and we couldn't finish everything so we packet home! They do take out too but at 2,000 won.

Maggie for dinner.

Yonsei University:

That's my bro -.-

We went to request for a letter of enrolment so we could apply for Alien Registration Card at the Immigration Office. And we can only collect it the next day after 1pm.

Pork ribs in don't know what stew/broth!

Meal was 22,000 won.

It seems like every meal was spicy and red.

Cereal for breakfast. Chocolate flavoured cereal supposed to taste yummy but this ain't. And we still have huge packet to go :\

My workspace! My table and chair I ordered from Gmarket has arrived! Wooo!

OOTD while out shopping alone at Ewha!

Like my Bart Simpson Wanted tank top? :)

More shots at Ewha fashion steet:

Bought a stick of chicken with capsicum for 2,000 won.

Free strawberry smoothie sample from Smoothie king!

Ridiculously expensive dinner. We thought it was 14,000 won for the whole set but NO IT WASN'T.

Damage: 28,000 won

Whaaaaaat.

Most of the time, we point to the picture and hope for the best. Sadly, this didn't turn out to be the best.

Loots from Ewha and a green pencil holder from Daiso at 1,000 won!

Tee shirts were 5,000 won each. Yep, I'm even more budget than in Singapore. My aim now is to find clothes that are 5,000 won! I usually shop at Bugis Street where I buy clothes where the price varies from $10-$20.

Masks at 20,000 won for 3 packets at the top! Free samples at the bottom!

They were having offer at Tony Moly. Talking about this, has anyone tried the lip/eye make-up remover from Tony Moly (in previous picture) before? I tried it yesterday and it HURTS! My eyes went red!

Need some feedback!

Breakfast the other day, again.

Orientation on Friday:

This is the auditorium. The orientation lasted for 20-30 minutes. Luckily I read online that the orientation wasn't much, just some rules and regulations. All you need to know is in the handbook. You can skip the orientation too. Hopefully, I'm able to make friends tomorrow! Yes, school is starting tomorrow!

OOTD for orientation and the bag of loots from Ewha again.

I wore the black top I got from Ewha!

5,000 won and 7,000 won (L-R).

Easy matching tops for school. Can pair it up with either skorts, shorts, leggings or jeans!

Best of all, no need for ironing. But I'm still looking for a steamer on Gmarket, just in case.

Hair ties at 1,000 won each!

Quilts and bedsheets arrived! We thought we ordered mattresses for it turned out to be BEDSHEETS. Everything on the website was in Korean so it was EXTREMELY troublesome.

I will master the language! Grrrr.

I managed to get stationery at PENPIA which is like POPULAR in Sg.

All for <$8.

That pencil lead was expensive!

I went to Myeongdong yesterday but I was disappointed as there weren't much clothes. It just full of cosmetics shops like Etude House, Skin Food, Tony Moly, Nature Republic etc because you can basically find all these everywhere! Even at subway stations!

I found a stall which sells K-pop stuff! They have lots of K-pop shop at Myeongdong subway too. And I saw lots of Singaporeans there too.

Bought mini Yakult on my way back! 990 won! :DD

And chocolate biscuits!

Loots from Myeongdong but I can get these at Sinchon. I shall make my way to Dongdaemun next week!

How to resist nail polishes you tell me?! Buy 1 get 1 free! !@#$%^&*(

1,500 won for 2, OMG.

And the nail polish remover smells so niceeeeeeeeeeeee! A sweet scent!

Painted my nails yesterday!

Okay, ending here. Hope you guys enjoy it! Tomorrow is our first day of school! I'm very very very very very anxious. I must pack bag, reach school early tomorrow and be in class before everyone else. I'm a kiasu Singaporean. There's midterm test in week 5! Need to score A, LOL.

Just kidding, I see how tough or easy is it first lah. I have invested my entire life savings in my dream, I need to do my best.

Okay, time for shower and gotta study advance in a bit. Yep, I'm kiasu like that.

Goodnight.
